Results of the War in North Vietnam
Political SystemAfter the Vietnam war ended the North Vietnamese and Vietcong took control over South Vietnam. As a result the countries united and the country adopted communism as their political system. Those who opposed communism in South Vietnam attempted to flee the country. However, the North Vietnamese sent those who did not leave South Vietnam to re-education camps.

Damage
The basic infrastructure of North Vietnam was damaged after the bombings of the Vietnam War. Although North Vietnam was greatly damaged the extent of the damage could have been much worse. However, by President Johnson deciding to halt future bombing in North Vietnam in 1967, North Vietnam was protected from further damage.

Harsh Chemicals
Throughout the Vietnam War, the U.S air force dumped Agent Orange, a harmful chemical used to eliminate North Vietnamese forest cover, over the Vietnamese forests. This operation, also known as Operation Ranch Hand, dumped approximately nine-teen million gallons of harmful herbicides over 4.5 million acres throughout Vietnam. These herbicides caused numerous health defects such as tumors, rashes, physiological symptoms, birth defects, and cancer.
